Other Club Awards and Distinctions Junior Woman's Club of Sparta Win State Level Awards
Members of the Junior Woman's Club of Sparta recently attended the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs of GFWC Junior Membership Convention, May 18, 19 & 20, 2007, at the Parsippany Hilton, in Parsippany, N.J. Founded in 1890, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is one of the world's oldest non-partisan, nondenominational women's volunteer service organizations. The New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs of GFWC - Junior Membership is a statewide organization providing education, training and interaction opportunities for volunteers who are committed to individual growth and community involvement, enriching the quality of life throughout New Jersey and the world. Delegates from the Junior Woman's Club of Sparta participated in the three day convention. Current JWCS President Kathleen Piwko says, "The Juniors State Convention is really a time for our club to celebrate the work that we have done over the past 12 months. It is also a wonderful opportunity to make contacts with members of other Junior Clubs and to get ideas from their successful projects. We are already acting on one of the fundraising ideas we learned about at the Convention this year." Awards are given out annually in a variety of categories. For the 2007 calendar year, the Junior Woman's Club of Sparta won awards in the following categories: Best Work in the Public Affairs Department - 2nd Place (30+ Members)Best Work in the Communications Department - 2nd Place (30+ Members) Best Work in the International Affairs Department - 3rd Place (30+ Members) Best Work in the Membership Department - 3rd Place (30+ Members) Press Book Award - 2nd Place Golden Key Award - 3rd Place Newsletter Award 9-14 pages - 3rd Place State Project Contribution - $2500 (Second highest amount donated) Unicef Contribution - $2,597 (Highest amount donated) Juniorettes - Best Work in the Membership Department - 1st Place Juniorettes - Shining Star Award for Outstanding Work in Public Affairs
